CSK Issues Official Statement on Ravindra Jadeja–Sanju Samson Trade Speculations
CSK officially addressed rumours of a Ravindra Jadeja–Sanju Samson trade, confirming Jadeja’s stay while keeping an eye on Samson, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
Ravindra Jadeja celebrates in his trademark sword style as Chennai Super Kings hint at his retention amid Sanju Samson trade rumours.

After much speculation, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have confirmed the existence of a player trade rumour involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. As the franchise took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account to post a video, the message sent out to the fans and to the whole cricket world was quite clear—there is nothing to worry about.
CSK Drops Hint: Jadeja Staying Put
In the video, Jadeja is seen celebrating with his signature sword celebration while wearing the iconic yellow jersey. The clip was widely interpreted as CSK’s clear indication that the veteran all-rounder remains an integral part of the team, and that no trade deal involving him has been finalised.
The 36-year-old all-rounder, who has been a pillar of CSK’s success, had an impressive 2025 season with both bat and ball. With his consistent performances and middle-order stability, Jadeja is expected to retain a key role under skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2026.
Sanju Samson Trade Talks Back in Focus
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals (RR) continue to explore potential trade options for their captain, Sanju Samson. Earlier negotiations with Delhi Capitals reportedly fell through after the Capitals refused to release young star Tristan Stubbs.
Now, CSK have once again emerged as a contender to acquire the wicketkeeper-batter. According to sources, MS Dhoni, along with CEO Kasi Viswanathan, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and coach Stephen Fleming, are believed to be actively involved in discussions regarding a possible trade.
However, with RR also in touch with other franchises like KKR, DC, and Lucknow Super Giants, the situation remains fluid.
Plan B: Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul on CSK’s Radar
Should the Samson deal fail to materialise, CSK are reportedly preparing to pivot toward other top Indian wicketkeeper-batters. As per reports, the franchise is eyeing Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul as alternatives.
While Rahul is expected to stay central to Delhi Capitals’ plans, Ishan Kishan, who may be released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, could become a top target for CSK in the upcoming IPL 2026 mini-auction.
Tough Season, Fresh Strategy Ahead
Having ended up in the last position on the IPL 2025 points table, CSK now seems to be set on reconstructing their team composition whereby the new players will be mixed with the old ones. During the last season, the young players such as Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis were a delight, and the management's recent decisions indicate a forceful way of changing the team before IPL 2026.
