BCCI’s Cash Reserves Soar to ₹20,686 Crore in 2025, Driven by IPL and ICC Revenues

According to a report given to state associations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has seen a sharp increase in its financial reserves over the last five years, with its cash and bank balance rising from ₹6,059 crore in 2019 to ₹20,686 crore in 2025.
Reserves of Cash and Growth in General Funds
The report notes that even after paying state units their debts, the BCCI's reserves increased by ₹14,627 crore between 2019 and 2024, including a remarkable ₹4,193 crore increase in the most recent fiscal year. From ₹3,906 crore in 2019 to ₹7,988 crore in 2024, the general fund almost doubled.
Despite Tax Provisions, Surplus
The BCCI reported a surplus of ₹1,623.08 crore for FY 2023–24, which was an increase from ₹1,167.99 crore the year before. Notably, the board has provisioned ₹3,150 crore towards potential tax liabilities, while continuing to contest the matter in courts and tribunals.
Earnings Breakdown
- Media rights income dropped to ₹813.14 crore (from ₹2,524.80 crore) due to fewer home internationals.
- Investment income rose sharply to ₹986.45 crore (from ₹533.05 crore), thanks to higher deposit returns.
- IPL revenues and ICC distributions significantly boosted the overall surplus.
Significant Allocations for 2023–2024
- ₹1,200 crore set aside for the development of infrastructure
- For the Platinum Jubilee Benevolent Fund, ₹350 crore
- ₹500 crore for projects aimed at developing cricket
Furthermore, ₹1,990.18 crore was given to state associations, and an additional ₹2,013.97 crore is anticipated for this year.
