Devotees worship Goddess Skandamata on Navratri Day 5, symbolising motherly love, compassion and divine strength.

Sharadiya Navratri comes up for the celebration of nine days; this year, the occasion began on September 22 and is supposed to end on October 2 with Vijayadashami or Dussehra. Worship continues for these nine days to nine celebrities or incarnations of Goddess Durga called Navadurga.
On the 5th day, i.e., Friday, September 26, Goddess Skandamata is worshipped by her devotees.
Significance of Maa Skandamata
According to the scriptures, Maa Skandamata is shown riding on a lion, while her child Skanda, variously known as Murugan or Kartikeya, sits on her lap. She is four-handed, two hands carrying blue lotuses, the third in Abhaya Mudra, and the fourth carrying her divine son.
Maa Skandamata is worshipped as the supreme mother, who is all love, compassion, and protection and is considered one with the nurturing power of motherhood. Worshippers of Maa Skandamata are said to be rewarded with peace, prosperity, and salvation.

Auspicious Colour of the Day
Suzah is Green for the fifth day of Navratri-the colour of growth, fertility, harmony, and regeneration. People are encouraged to don green colours while celebrating the puja.
Maa Skandamata Puja Rituals
Devotees wake up early, take a holy bath, and perform worship in front of the idol or image of Maa Skandamata.
Red flowers (supposedly her favorite), akshat, batasha, paan, betel nut, cloves, diya, and incense sticks constitute the offerings.
Some devotees observe fasting and chant Durga Saptashati or other sacred hymns in praise of the Goddess.

During the Navratri festivities, nine days of worship are given to the nine divine forms of Goddess Durga on each day manifestation of good virtues and cosmic powers. The festival culminates into Vijayadashami after days of worship, which represents the victory of good over evil.
