Tokyo: Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has announced the "SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 Global Startup Programme," slated to be held on May 15-16, 2024. This conference, anticipated to draw startups worldwide, is positioned as Asia's largest global innovation gathering.

The event, aimed at fostering exchanges of ideas to tackle common urban challenges, will focus on themes such as demographic shifts, environmental concerns, ageing infrastructure, and the preservation of traditional culture through technology.

The programme will feature speaking sessions, a pitch contest, and exhibitions, with distinguished panellists including Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, and representatives from esteemed organizations such as Harvard Business Review and Google.org.

"SusHi Tech Tokyo" symbolizes Tokyo's standing in the global tech landscape, aiming to be a platform for innovative solutions to urban challenges, not only for Japan but for the world.

TMG's "Global Innovation with STARTUP" initiative, active since November 2022, aims to significantly increase Tokyo's startup ecosystem over the next five years. Building on previous successes, the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 event marks a significant milestone in this endeavor, bringing together startups, investors, corporations, and students to drive future innovations.

The event will focus on key themes including infrastructure, environment, living, culture, and impact, to foster open innovation and create a sustainable future urban city.

The Pitch Contest, a highlight of the event, will see participation from 507 companies representing 43 countries and regions, vying for a grand prize of 10 million yen. Notably, the number of participating companies has increased by 1.5 times compared to the previous year.

In addition to the Pitch Contest, the Startup Exhibition will showcase 429 companies, including both domestic and international startups, providing a platform for networking and collaboration.

The VC/Investor Pavilion aims to facilitate connections between startups and investors, with over 20 VCs and investors participating in meetups and stage showcases.

With a diverse range of participants and engaging activities planned, the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 Global Startup Programme is poised to be a significant event in advancing innovation and collaboration on a global scale.
