Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy handing over cheque for Rs 4,949 crore towards YSR Cheyutha scheme for third year in a row at Animganipalle near Kuppam on Friday

Chittoor Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is firm on making inroads into Kuppam Assembly Constituency, represented by his bete noire TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for 33 years, on Friday launched several welfare schemes and listed out the works introduced by the YSRCP Government during past three years to develop it as a model.

Reddy, who visited Kuppam for the second time in less than two months, said Chandrababu Naidu, who was Kuppam MLA for 33 years had used the BC vote bank but did nothing in contrast to the plethora of welfare schemes by the present government. He also said that the local MLC Bharath has been part of implementation of the schemes and told people that this is their government.

The Chief Minister had earlier called upon party workers to ensure victory in all 175 Assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh. He had also promised a ministerial berth if Bharath gets elected as MLA from Kuppam in 2024 elections.

Affirming that Kuppam constituency has seen development after he took over the reins, the Chief Minister announced the pension amount will be hiked to Rs 2,750 from January onwards. Speaking at the Cheyutha disbursement function held at Animiganipalle, near here the Chief Minister said unlike the previous TDP Government headed by Chandrababu Naidu, under the YSRCP Government all sections of people are getting the fruits of development, which is tangible all over. He said the pension amount will be increased to Rs.2,750 from Rs 2,500 with effect from January and subsequently to Rs. 3,000.

Describing YSR Cheyutha as a scheme which helps SC,ST, BC and minorities women in running their families and bringing in a major change with the empowerment, the Chief Minister said a weeklong Cheyutha festival will be held at Kuppam. Elected representatives will visit each house from mandal level and share their happiness that comes with the scheme.

For the third consecutive year, 26.39 lakh beneficiaries are receiving the amount of Rs.4,949.44 crore directly into their bank accounts. For YSR Cheyutha itself, in the past three years, Rs.14,110.62 crore was given while Rs.19,617 crore was disbursed under Amma Vodi to 44.50 beneficiaries. Under YSR Asara Rs.12,758 crore was given to 78.74 lakh beneficiaries and Rs.3,615 crores under the YSR Zero Interest Scheme.

In all the government has given Rs.3.12 lakh crore under DBT and non-DBT of which Rs.2.39 lakh was handed over only to women.

All this was done with transparency without any discrepancy, just with a click of a button. "You have to see the difference between the previous government and ours. We have given you the choice of the manner in which you want to spend the amount and have made arrangements for technical help and to facilitate your option," he said.

While the budget remains the same as the previous and present governments, why the TDP could not carry out the welfare schemes while the YSRCP has been carrying out all the programmes promised by it, he said amid thunderous applause from the audience.

Listing out the development done in Kuppam, the Chief Minister said water to Kuppam canal, municipality status to Kuppam and revenue division were made during YSRCP rulem while Chandrababu Naidu, who was Chief Minister for 14 years before and after bifurcation, could not take up any development activity worth the name. He is known for his backstabbing politics, the Chief Minister alleged.

From Rs.6.5 crore Reddipalli Ramakuppam power substation to Railway underbridge, to integrated office complex to sanctioning of Rs.20 crore to Dravidian University--all were done by this government, he said.
