Odisha, Rajasthan, Guj lead IEMs during Oct

Andhra Pradesh got Rs9,604-crore worth of actual industrial investment in January-October 2023, which was a steep fall from Rs45,217 in 2022. The corresponding figures for Telangana were Rs3,464 crore and Rs3,915 crore, respectively

New Delhi: October 2023 saw almost a rise of almost 25 per cent in investment proposals on a year-to-year basis. There were 119 industrial entrepreneur memorandums (IEMs) worth a total investment of Rs31,471 crore, as compared to 99 IEMs with Rs24,840 crore in October 2022. On a month-to-month basis, however, there was a decline, as there were 73 IEMs worth Rs74,294 in September 2023.

These were Part-A filings, indicating investment intentions, as compared to Part-B IEM filings showing actual investments.

Odisha, Rajasthan, and Gujarat were the leading States in terms of proposed investments of Rs13,302 crore, Rs4,945 crore, and Rs3,582 crore, respectively, official sources told Bizz Buzz. Investment intentions reflects preference for electrical equipment, cement & gypsum products, and chemicals (other than fertilisers) with proposed investments of Rs12,953 crore, Rs3,069 crore, and Rs2,645 crore, respectively

In terms of actual investment, 83 IEMs with a total investment of Rs18,041 crore were reported in October 2023, in comparison with 55 IEMs with investment of Rs9,742 crore in the corresponding month 2022.

In the January-October 2023 period, actual industrial investment was Rs246,205 crore, which was very close to Rs250,064 in the entire previous calendar year.

Gujarat topped the list among States, getting Rs57,557 crore in the first 10 months of 2023, followed by Maharashtra with Rs48,063 crore and Punjab with Rs31,122 crore.

The industrial segments of chemicals (other than fertilisers) received the maximum investment, Rs66138 crore in the first 10 months of 2023, as compared to Rs25,086 crore and Rs60,924 crore in 2021. This was followed by the food processing industry (Rs26,433 cr) and electrical equipment (Rs18,895 cr).
