Air India Express Cancels 70+ Flights Due To Sudden Crew Sickness

More than 70 Air India Express flights were cancelled and many more were delayed because about 300 cabin crew members called in sick all at once. They were upset with the poor management of the airline, which is now owned by the Tata Group.

Passengers were angry too due to flight cancellations. In airports across the country, they conducted rigorous protests when they found out that their flights were cancelled right before they were supposed to leave. Some said they weren't told until after they had already gone through security.

One woman, who needed to get to Sharjah for work, was told she couldn't fly until the day after she was supposed to start. Another woman, trying to visit her sick husband in Muscat, only found out her flight was cancelled when she got to the airport.

Some passengers were so frustrated due to last-minute flight cancellations they just bought new tickets on other airlines, even if they were expensive. In New Delhi, videos on social media showed passengers yelling at Air India Express staff.

The airline said it was apologetic for the trouble caused and promised refunds or new tickets for affected passengers. They also said they were trying to understand why so many crew members suddenly got sick. This operational disruption caused significant inconvenience to the passengers.

This isn't the first time there have been problems with the airline. Last month, a union representing some cabin crew members said the airline was being poorly managed and that workers weren't treated fairly.

Passenger inconvenience due to Air India Express issues continues to escalate. Meanwhile, Vistara, another airline owned by Tata Group, also had problems with pilots recently. They had to cut back on flights for a while because of it.
