Andrew Kim, Chief Business Officer (CBO), eZee Technosys talks about how a 15-year-old company floated by two friends Hitesh Patel (MD, Co-Founder) & Vipul Kapoor (Co-Founder) created a tech-based platform engineered for the hospitality industry to automate operations in a flawless and seamless manner in an exclusive interview with Bizz Buzz. During the Covid -19 pandemic, when most leading companies within the sector started laying off people during the lockdown, eZee took a different route. Instead of delving in the negative impacts of the pandemic, eZee saw an opportunity and started working on special projects to prepare themselves for when the markets would resume. eZee tried to cut down on expenses through effective vendor management and operation optimizations. The company invested in R&D and future-oriented planning, which resulted in many new and exciting initiatives, some of which include: Open API, eZee Absolute 2.0 development

How can eZee Technosys solutions help hotels overcome the Covid crisis?

eZee solely exists with the purpose of empowering small to mid-sized hotels with a more profitable and organized business. In the last 14 years, our products have been developed keeping in mind the industry's requirements and pain points, regardless of the situation. In this Covid-19 crisis, our solutions can help hotels impart a completely contactless experience to guests, acquire direct bookings, streamline various operations and cut down costs.

Which are the various solutions that eZee Technosys provides and which are the key solutions that can improve margins and boost growth?

eZee's solutions include. eZee Absolute cloud-based hotel PMS, eZee Reservation booking engine, eZee Centrix channel manager, eZee Optimus restaurant POS system, eZee Panorama website builder for hotels and restaurants, Critique review management system, eZee FrontDesk desktop-based hotel software, and eZee BurrP! desktop-based restaurant POS. While the majority of our users go for our one-stop solution, each product works in tandem with others to make the hotel business profitable. However, if I have to pinpoint, eZee Absolute, eZee Centrix and eZee Optimus would be the key solutions to improve margins and boost growth.

What according to you is the new normal for the hospitality industry?

I would say that contactless hospitality is definitely the new normal. Additionally, it is going to be imperative for hotels to establish a brand presence to gain guest trust and confidence. People are skeptical to travel or visit anywhere, and a hospitality business' presence and transparent communication would be the key to more bookings. Proper staff training, hygiene and sanitization would be another aspect of the new normal.

What are your plans to address/help the hospitality industry thrive in the new business environment?

Currently, together with our parent company, Yanolja, we are working on our most awaited platform Y FLUX, a completely automated hotel management platform. The Y FLUX solution will revolutionize the way hotel businesses are conducted, which is perfectly poised and fit for the post Covid-19 era. In addition, we are revamping our PMS product entirely with the latest technology stack, where we are trying to provide the next level of user experience and simple workflows with optimum speed. We are also working on our revenue management tool which was a missing piece in our offering. This tool will help hotels drive better revenue with minimal interactions. With new and enhanced products in the pipeline, we are not only opening the path towards a better customer experience but also making our products feasible for the larger hotel segments.

What is the impact of the hospitality industry on the economy and how can technology accelerate that growth?

The hospitality industry is connected to the travel and tourism industry. Suffice to say, both industries have a direct impact on the economy. The hospitality industry employs abundant staff members, from housekeeping and front desk to managers, chefs and waiters. Hotels and restaurants run on customer influx and customer satisfaction. The happier the customers are, the more the industry thrives. And, happier customers lead to more purchases, which impacts the economy directly. However, over time, customer expectations are changing. They want quicker and better services. But manual operations in the hospitality industry stand in the way of such expectations. Technology, for that reason, becomes the ultimate answer here. A good and stable technology helps hotels and restaurants simplify and automate their daily operations to a large extent. This saves their time, reduces their efforts and makes them more efficient resulting in imparting a better customer experience. Technology also makes the industry susceptible to change, prepare them for any challenges and cut down operational costs.
